First Thursday information for presenters

Are you an organization or business, an artist or someone with an idea for First Thursday? We are looking for all sorts of interesting people and ideas.

Become a First Thursday presenter.

1. Offer special programming. Tell us about the events you already have scheduled on First Thursdays and consider additional special programming. You can participate every month or one-time only. Consider planning your opening night to take place on First Thursday, offer a behind the scenes tour, a special performance, a workshop, or an opportunity to meet the artist, curator or director.

For restaurants, offer a special First Thursday tasting, meet the executive chef, of special deal that's only available on First Thursdays.

The arts are the common thread of First Thursdays. If you are not an arts organization, consider using your space to host a performance or art exhibition.

2. Tell us what you want to do prior to the 10th of every month. If you have something to contribute at the last minute, please let us know and we will do our best to include your event in our communications.

3. Promote First Thursdays. Tell people about your own event and promote it as part of First Thursday. Wherever possible, include the full list of First Thursday events. Provide a link to CulturalDistrict.ca/FirstThursdays.

4. Distribute the email flyer and/or print flyer. Once you are included in the month's programming list, you will receive a First Thursday email flyer to forward to your email list. Printed flyers will be distributed to your location. Keep some brochures on hand to distribute on First Thursday or print more yourselves, just ask us for the file.

5. Put up your First Thursday poster. You will also receive blank First Thursday posters. Write in the particular details about your event in the space provided and hang the poster the day of First Thursday at the entrance of your venue. This identifies that you are part of the First Thursday programming for the day.

6. Inform your front line staff about First Thursdays and the Cultural District. Ensure your staff can answer your visitor's questions and create the best possible experience at your location. First Thursday information can be found at CulturalDistrict.ca/FirstThursdays.
