CALGARY - EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts and National Geographic Live are thrilled to present the inaugural line up of four of National Geographic's most beloved adventurers – compelling individuals who have impressed audiences around the globe with their passion for their work and the stories they bring to the stage.
During the 2011-2012 season, audiences are invited to explore the ocean depths with a seasoned underwater photographer, learn of our origins from the results of thousands of DNA samples, follow a photographer to the unseen corners of the earth and travel to world’s last truly wild places.

As an award-winning underwater photographer, Skerry is celebrated for his intimate and stunning portraits of our planet’s ocean realm. In a visually spectacular presentation tied to his landmark National Geographic book, Ocean Soul, you’ll share Skerry’s adventures documenting the wonder and resilience of the vast underwater world.

Director of the world-famous Genographic Project and National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence, Wells has used DNA to unlock the mystery of our earliest journeys out of the cradle of Africa and to create the first-ever map of human migration. Trace mankind’s family tree with Wells—and be one of the first to get a glimpse of the next stage of his groundbreaking research.

National Geographic Live and EPCOR CENTRE also bring companion events for area students and educators. Each of the speakers featured in the evening series present a matinee performance specifically geared to students. Lessons plans and other related materials are available in preparation for the events. Schools may register on a first-come, first-served basis for these matinees by calling 403.294.7455.
National Geographic Live is a branded series of events including live concerts, films and dynamic presentations by today's leading explorers, scientists, filmmakers and photographers covering a wide range of topics including exploration and adventure, wildlife and habitat, natural phenomena and relevant issues such as climate change and energy conservation. Proceeds from speaker series ticket sales help fund future National Geographic initiatives in field research, exploration and education.
