Event Description:

Sikh Youth Calgary (SYC) is continuing its annual campaign to help those who rely heavily on our City’s food bank. In just six years, the Walking Away Hunger campaign with the support of Calgary Public Schools, post-secondary institutions, local businesses, and community organizations, has successfully raised over $150,000 in cash and food donations!

On May 12, 2012 the annual Nagar Kirtan (Sikh Parade) will be the catalyst for our campaign. We are expecting over 20,000 attendees marking this Calgary's second largest parade! This year we hope to raise more funds and food donations for the Calgary Inter-faith Food Bank than in previous years. Our aim is to unite members of Calgary’s communities to make this day extraordinary by “Walking Away Hunger.”

We encourage all community members to attend our parade and to bring non-perishable food items for the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank.

If you have any questions or would like to support this community wide effort, please feel free to contact Jessie K. Singh at (403)-680-5278.
