An Improv Hamlet: Making Tragedy Fun
This is Hamlet as you have never seen it before. The Improv Guild is reimagining Shakespeare's greatest tragedy and making it fun. Using the styles and techniques of improvisation as well as the words and themes of Shakespeare, actors from the Improv Guild will improvise their way through the timeless tale of murder, deception and revenge. The result will be a part scripted, part improvised, part musical romp that is wholly entertaining and understandable to modern audiences. No two performances will be the same as each night audience suggestions will help determine the outcome. It's the people's Hamlet. You'll have to see it to believe it.

Elephant Song
Written and directed by Jennie Esdale, performed by Dean Bareham and Nicola Elson, original compositions performed live on the zither by Vi An Diep.
50 minute indoor puppet and music show. All ages. Life size, hand, rod, shadow puppets. Don’t miss this exquisite new show.
Synopsis:
Two sisters separated during the fall of Saigon find themselves a world apart. Vi An, a refuge, arrives in Canada and teaches herself to play the zither. Through her music, she conjures the life of her sister, raised in the jungles along the Mekong River in South East Asia. Rescued by an elephant, the sister embarks on a harrowing journey in search of a lost calf. Along the way, she saves as many elephants from the perils of modern dangers as she can.
The story is told without words using mask and puppetry, including shadow and hand/ rod puppets.
Ganesh Versus The Third Reich
Performed by a mixed-abilities cast, Ganesh Versus The Third Reich follows two simultaneous stories; on one hand it is a play about the elephant-headed god Ganesh, sent to earth in 1943 on a quest to reclaim the Swastika (an ancient Hindu symbol) from Nazi Germany. On the other, it is the story of a young man inspired to create this play about Ganesh – god of overcoming obstacles – and the group of individuals struggling with its creation. The actors perform both as themselves and as the characters in this ‘play within a play’, effectively convincing the audience that this work is being made, in each moment, before our eyes. As the ‘Ganesh play’ is rehearsed, initially witty interplays between the performers and the director become increasingly more uncomfortable. What is the real story? Whose play is this? Are the performers being empowered or patronized, and as the audience are we also implicated?
ENDURE: Run Woman Show
ENDURE: A Run Woman Show is a theatre show that doesn’t take place in a theatre. Audience members follow a single performer through 5K of urban streets, public parkland, and off road trails. It is, quite literally, a walk in the park- though audience members have opportunities to run, if they choose.
What they experience is a performance that is, according to the Calgary Herald, “as beautiful as the unconventional setting it unfolds in.”
Audiences are loaned custom ENDURE mp3 players through which they hear a monologue set to music. Everyone is listening to the same audio at the same time, and the soundtrack serves as an intimate audio backdrop to the live performance they’re pursuing and encountering in front of them.
The show is about the marathon, a grueling footrace that is 42.2K (26.2 miles) in length. More specifically, the show is about one woman’s first marathon race and the personal events in her life that compelled her to train for and run it. The show is about much more than just running and asks audiences to break the bounds of the theatre and encounter the world through the mind of a marathon runner.
ENDURE is an outdoor performance that travels through a public park space. Audiences travel approximately 5K during the show. You will be required to be on your feet, periodically walking, for approximately 75 minutes. You will not be required to run, but we certainly encourage you to do so! Please wear comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes, and be dressed to remain outdoors throughout the performance. The show travels through varied terrain, including some trails and off-road areas.
Seussical: The Musical
Now one of the most performed shows in America, SEUSSICAL is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! The story centers around Horton the Elephant, who finds himself faced with a double challenge--not only must he protect his tiny friend Jojo (and all the invisible Whos) from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him, the only one who recognizes "his kind and his powerful heart." Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant, in a story that makes you laugh and cry.
Special offer for LiveRush members - 2 for 1 tickets at the door! Box office opens one hour prior to performances. Valid Student ID and LiveRush card required. Tickets at the door are cash only.
